What is a high performance butterfly valve?
A butterfly valve is a rotary valve that uses a rotary valve disc to control the flow of a pipeline. The disc is typically operable at 90 degrees and has linear flow characteristics. For throttle control applications, the following butterfly valves are the current industry standard: High Performance Butterfly Valves (HPBV) or Double Eccentric Valves. Its advantages are straight-through flow paths, ultra-high capacity, and the ability to pass solid and viscous media, to reduce the rotating friction and provide light torque.
